Many boat manufacturer’s and marine dealers will claim the boat has been waxed when you buy it, but how can you be sure? The best way to prolong the life of your marine gelcoat is to keep it waxed regularly (we recommend every 4-6 months). The purpose of marine wax is to protect the gelcoat! Waiting too long between boat waxing intervals will cause the gelcoat to become chalky and require a much more expensive and time consuming process known as marine compounding and gelcoat polishing. This process also can wear down your boats gelcoat and cause it to bubble and more prone to chip.
